I have the rules, haven't had a chance to play using them yet.
You bring up some issues, notably with A.unit sizes, B.ammunition expenditure for artillery, and C.point-blank shooting.

With A., I would either reduce unit sizes by an acceptable percentage, or use an arbitrary 2- size system; say, 24 figures as a usual battalion, and 28/30 figures for historically larger units, notably in the Austrian and British armies ; perhaps that will save your resources for those flashy Guard Lancers you've always wanted!

B: running out of ammo happened less often than we think. (At Waterloo, the RHA and R A blasted away all day, expending hundreds of rounds, and still had enough left. An exception to this would be the Prussian artillery, who, finding themselves uncomfortably in a dangerous situation, would blast away at anything as fast as possible, and then retire under the pretext of having to re-supply!) Try a House Rule along the lines of of Rapid Unaimed fire, versus Slow Accurate fire, see where that goes..

C: Point-blank fire. You could introduce a rule whereby a charging infantry unit movies its entire charge move up to 1 inch from the defenders that stood firm, and use add-on factors for very close-range shooting.

My above suggestions are a little off-the-cuff, I understand, but might help you in refining the rules as you desire .

Cheers, and thanks again for bringing up the points that you outlined. haggishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12371343884614936471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795388890631218566.post-75240018803933247472021-01-11T14:15:11.028-08:002021-01-11T14:15:11.028-08:00How fast is the play for this set compared to blac...How fast is the play for this set compared to black powder?Guardian170https://www.blogger.com/profile/16037467268785658879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795388890631218566.post-4029041772032595372019-11-12T15:16:13.533-08:002019-11-12T15:16:13.533-08:00Where can this ruleset be found?
